Willamette River Bridge Eugene-Springfield, Oregon
The I-5 Willamette River Bridge Project is the last and largest project of state transportation/bridge programs funded by the $1.3 billion Oregon Transportation Investment Act (OTIA) III State Bridge Delivery Program. The scope endeavors to replace the existing I-5 bridges that cross the Willamette River and the Canoe Canal, restoring impacted landscape and environmental resources, and enhancing City of Eugene and City of Springfield park functions. Cameron McCarthy led the local land-use planning efforts to obtain a myriad of land-use permits between the cities of Eugene and Springfield. Our office also led the landscape restoration design, providing landscape design for components ranging from creek restoration, restoration of temporary wetland impacts, restoration of impacted areas, to landscape enhancement of pedestrian/bicycle transportation routes through parks. Further assistance was provided in facilitating community stakeholder group visions and desires for art/aesthetic enhancements, including developing aesthetic designs for the project sound walls.
